Jeremy Antscherl Cycling the Étape du Tour

In July 2011, Jeremy Antscherl, a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon specialising in facial trauma tackled one of the toughest stages of the Tour de France to raise funds for the new National Facial Injury and Disease Study Centre.

The route was identical to that which was ridden by the professionals a week later. This stage is considered to be one of the toughest of the whole Tour, although only 109 km long it contains 3000 metres of climbing, including 3 massive ‘cols’ finishing at the iconic summit of Alpe D’Huez.

“I’m thrilled this year I’m able to fulfil my dream. I have been training throughout autumn, winter and spring and hope now I have the legs to do it.”
