A hearty congratulations to our patron, Channel 4 journalist, Jon Snow who will receive this year’s BAFTA fellowship. The annual award is presented to an “individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, television or games.” Jon now joins a prestigious list of previous recipients including, David Attenborough, Michael Palin and last year’s winner, Julie Walters.

There was some confusion over the initial nomination, he revealed in an interview with The Guardian. “For two or three months I was blissfully unaware until they sent a rather hurt email,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it, I thought they’d got the wrong Snow. Then I saw the cascade of people who’d had it before. Judi Dench, both Attenboroughs. Amazing.”

This is not the first time that Jon has been honoured at the BAFTA’s. In 2005 he won the “Richard Dimbleby Award for Outstanding Presenter in the Factual Arena”.

The award show will be broadcast on BBC One on Sunday 10th of May.
