An update on our dear friend, Pat Wicking

13/12/2017: It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and patron Patricia Wicking has passed away. Pat had previously been treated successfully for breast cancer with surgery and radiotherapy but 2 years ago was diagnosed with cancer of the womb and despite fighting bravely for 2 years, the cancer returned more aggressively and she passed away peacefully on 14th November 2017.

Pat touched the lives of so many patients and long-time supporters of Saving Faces in her role as a nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. She was an integral part of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department for many years. Pat was an excellent nurse whose patience, understanding and empathy made a real difference to the lives of hundreds of patients and their relatives.  Pat retired at the age of 70 but continued to provide comfort and support to the many patients who remained in contact with her  over the subsequent years.

You may have had the pleasure of meeting Pat at any number of events including our annual Christmas carols, cycle events and public research summits. She was a real driving force behind Saving Faces from the beginning and served as a Trustee then Patron for several years before reluctantly stepping down due to her illness.

We all loved her very much and she will be greatly missed.

We are currently finalising the funeral plans for Pat. If you would like to attend the funeral, please contact us via info@savingfaces.co.uk.
