In this article, Professor Iain Hutchison speaks about the important role that The National Facial, Oral and Oculoplastic Research Centre (NFORC) must play in helping those with facial disfigurement. Part of NFORC’s mission is to collect information on the psychological impact of facial disorders.
Professor Hutchison said: “We believe that research is the key to developing strategies and safeguards to protect the emotional wellbeing of people with facial disfigurement. To date much of our research in this area has focused on cancer and trauma patients.”
