Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and author, Nick Baker, has pledged to donate to Saving Faces for each sold copy of his second book, ‘The Quantum Engine’.
The urban fantasy/historical thriller follows on from his first book ‘The Stone of Madness‘ and will be released late 2021.

Mr Geoff Chiu completed the Ironman 70.3 Bolton in an incredible time of 6hours and 37minutes – 7 minutes of his target.

Mr Geoff Chiu is taking on the IRONMAN 70.3 Bolton on September 26 2021, in aid of Saving Faces and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust Charitable Funds.
The triathlon consists of a 1.2-mile swim in Pennington Flash, a 56-mile cycle around the hills of northern Bolton, including the tough climb up to Belmont and Rivington, and a 13.1-mile half marathon finishing in Bolton Town Centre.
Geoff is a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and looks after the faces and jaws of people in East Lancashire and Bolton.
Geoff is also currently working with Saving Faces on The National Wisdom Tooth Study.
Donations will raise essential funds for research and new equipment to enhance patient care for patients who have surgery to their face and mouth.

Mr Geoff Chiu, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, has completed two triathlons in two weeks to raise funds for Saving Faces!
Due to the cancellations on the Chateau Chantilly Triathlon and the Tour De Manchester, Mr Chiu took part in the Boundary Park Triathlon on the 13th September 2020 and the Hever Castle Triathlon on the 26th September 2020.
In both events, Mr Chiu found the run the most difficult part. He had to swim in waters as low as 12 degrees at Hever Castle, which resulted in the swim being cut short from 1.5km to 800m.
Even though the events were both challenging he enjoyed his time in two beautiful countryside’s.
With all his hard work and determination, Mr Chiu completed the Boundary Park Triathlon (1km Swim, 55km Cycle, 10km Run) in 3 hrs 19mins and Hever Castle Triathlon (800m Swim, 40km cycle, 10km run) in 2hrs 47mins.

A huge thank you to our supporters who ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 13th October 2019 to support Saving Faces!
Drew’s father-in-law, Henry de Lotbinière, was operated on by Saving Faces Chief Executive Professor Hutchison 13 times in 15 years.
Drew completed the half marathon in the incredible time of 1 hour and 40 minutes!
The Royal Parks Half Marathon was Maxine’s first half marathon.
She completed it in the amazing time of 1 hour 50 minutes!

Kat Huggins is running the Edinburgh Marathon for Saving Faces!
In August 2019, the family of Jaia, who was operated on by Professor Hutchison in 2013 to remove a haemangioma on the bridge of her nose, held a fundraising bake sale for Saving Faces. A selection of delicious food was served including cakes and samosas.
Two commemorative parachute drops for the 75th anniversary of D-Day (6th June 1944) are set to raise essential funds for the National Facial Oral and Oculoplastic Research Centre (NFORC), funded by Saving Faces and its partner the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS), and Special Forces veterans charity Pilgrim Bandits.
Kat Huggins will be running her first marathon to raise money for Saving Faces on 26th May 2019.
Nick has recently fulfilled a lifelong ambition by publishing his first novel, The Stone of Madness, an urban fantasy/historical thriller. Sarah Furnell was a long-standing researcher at Saving Faces for 7 years having worked on multiple research projects, a major national audit, sang along at 8 Christmas Carol concerts and represented Saving Faces at dozens of conferences. Even now as she embarks on her new adventure, she continues to support Saving Faces.
