Who's Who at Saving Faces

Professor Iain Hutchison, Chief Executive and Founder

Iain has been Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon St Bartholomew's, The Royal London Hospital & Homerton Hospitals since 1989. Iain was appointed to a professorship in  2007. He founded the United Kingdom Oral Cancer Research Group. Iain has written for many publications and is in great demand as a lecturer and expert media commentator. He has been nominated for the 2008 Beacon Award for New Initiatives in charity.
 
 

Fran Ridout, Clinical Research Manager

Fran's background is in psychology but has worked in numerous fields including IT, developing distance learning programmes, clinical trials. She was a member of the PACTS (Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety) from 2001 until 2003. Her publications cover a diverse range of psychotropic substances. She has presented at many conferences both in the UK and overseas.
 

Louise Lemoine, Liaison Officer

Louise graduated in Medicine at St Bartholomew's Hospital and has experience working in clinical and laboratory based cancer research, genetic counselling and medical journalism.  
 

Emily Holden

Emily became involved with Saving Faces after being treated for a facial injury by one of the charity's trustees, Simon Holmes. With such an amazing result, Emily wanted to use her degree in Advertising, PR and Media to help the charity with their PR and Fund raising.

 

Sharon Cheung - Clinical Trial Co-ordinator

Sharon started working at Saving Faces in January 2006 after graduating in MSc Psychology. She works on a variety of research projects including the school intervention studies on reducing binge drinking and smoking.
 

Meryl Rowlands - Trial Co-ordinator

Meryl is a Study Site Coordinator for Saving Faces. She assists surgeons, affiliated staff and participant patients in their involvement in the various research projects undertaken by the charity. Meryl is a Registered Nurse with several years experience working in Clinical Trials.
 

Joanne Dawson - Trial Co-ordinator

Joanne completed a PhD in biochemistry and has worked as a molecular biologist in a research laboratory within the University of Nottingham’s medical school. Following a move into the NHS she gained experience in clinical research and is now enjoying utilising her scientific background in a medical field as one of the clinical trial coordinators.
 

Jack Dentith - Research Assistant

Jack has recently completed a degree in archeology and anthropology, specialising in social anthropology. He is working on a variety of research projects including the school intervention studies on reducing binge drinking and smoking.
 

Miriam Tadesse - Research Assistant

Miriam has recently graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry and has a keen interest in molecular biology and its applications in medicine including cancer. She is currently working on a variety of research projects including the school intervention studies on reducing binge drinking and smoking.

 

 

Muna Jalo - Research Assistant

Muna is working as a Research Assistant at Saving Faces. She has a Degree in Social Policy and is at present undertaking a MSc in Research Methods. She is currently working on various research projects including the schools intervention studies on reducing binge drinking and smoking.
 

Jo Archer

Jo has a BSc in Experimental Psychology from the University of Sussex.  She worked as a research assistant at the MRC institute of hearing research in Nottingham whilst undertaking another A level and some psychiatric work experience. She is currently undertaking a PhD study at Barts and The London in October 2006 based at the Centre for Psychiatry.
