Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology
of University College, London.
His research interests are in the
mechanisms involved in the development of the embryo.
Professor Iain Hutchison, Chief Executive and Founder
Iain has been Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon St Bartholomew's, The Royal London Hospital & Homerton Hospitals since 1989. Iain was appointed to a professorship in 2007. He founded the United Kingdom Oral Cancer Research Group. Iain has written for many publications and is in great demand as a lecturer and expert media commentator.
Professor Walter Gilbert
Dr Walter Gilbert PhD is a
renowned scientist who won the 1980 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for developing
DNA sequencing technology. He has held professorships at Harvard University
in the Departments of Physics, Biophysics, Biochemistry, and Biology, and since
1985, in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He is presently the Carl M. Loeb University
Professor Emeritus.
Mr Keith Webster
Keith Webster is a
Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham
and Senior Lecturer at the University
of Birmingham. His main
surgical interest is in the management of facial cancer.
Professor Jatin P. Shah
Jatin P. Shah is Professor of Surgery, at the Weil Medical
College of Cornell University, and Chief of the Head and Neck Service, Leader
of the Head and Neck Disease Management Team, and holds The Elliott W. Strong
Chair in Head and Neck Oncology at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer
Center in New York City.
Professor Carol Brayne
Carol Brayne is a medical epidemiologist and public health physician. As a Lecturer in epidemiology at Cambridge University she developed a research programme which concentrates on longitudinal studies of healthy and frail ageing. Her research also covers neuroepidemiological research at other ages.
Mr Patrick Magennis
Patrick Magennis is a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon working in Liverpool at the University Hospital Aintree. He upgraded the Liverpool Head and Neck Cancer Database in 1997 and has worked with the database user group over the last seven years to great some prize-winning research.
Professor Sir Ian Kennedy
Professor Sir Ian Kennedy is Emeritus Professor of Health Law, Ethics and Policy at University College London. He is current Chair of the Healthcare Commission and former Chair of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics. From 1998 to 2001 he chaired the Public Inquiry into children's heart surgery at Bristol Royal Infirmary. He is a member of the Ministry of Defence Advisory Committee on Medical Countermeasures.
Professor Jeffrey Tobias
Professor Tobias qualified in medicine from Cambridge University and St Bartholomews Hospital
in 1971. After joint specialist training in medical and clinical oncology (at
the Royal Marsden
Hospital and Harvard Medical
School) he became a
Consultant in Clinical Oncology at UCH/Middlesex Hospitals (now part of the UCL
Hospitals group) in 1981. His main interests are in clinical research into
innovative treatment methods, especially in breast cancer, and in the ethical
issues surrounding large-scale cancer trials. He was promoted to a personal
Chair in Oncology at UCI
Medical School
in 2001.
